2001 GMC Sierra with Duramax and Allison transmission. at 30k miles (2yrs old) all brake failure, dealer very reluctantly replaced under warranty all rotors,CALIPERS AND PADS due to severe corrosion, after warranty was out (3 yrs) brake line failure at master cylinder and ABS. UNACCECTABLE!!! $500 FIX. at 40K miles (5yrs) brake line failure agian at proportioing valve, and wheel bearing faiure (second time) $300 each and line at $250. now at 49k brake line failure agian while 800 miles away from home dealer estimates $3000 to fix. why no recall? all rotors and calipers, backing plates, totally rotted, lines all rotted. and this is their heavy duty truck! buy another? NO WAY! JUNK JUNK JUNK. they recall toyotas fora couple hundred failures, but GM had 30K plus failures and NO RECALL>> yes i have a problem. scg13803@yahoo gets me.
Great Truck with Duramax Diesel
AOL user 2009-09-10 07:52:36
I purchased this truck for it's towing capacity, economy and overall comfort. I have the 3.73 rea axle coupled to the Aliison 6-speed auto and the 6.6 Duramax diesel. 16-18 mpg city and 20-23 mpg highway. Terrific for towing my 31 ft cruiser or hauling a 16 ft slide-in truck camper with a small boat in tow behind that! Truck is excellant in comfort for touring and has all the bells and whistles. I highly recommend this truck after comparing the other two brands to this one!!!!!
The finest, most powerful pickup that I've ever owed.

For a 3/4 ton 4x4 with a trailer tow package and the duramax diesel with the allison 6 speed auto tranny, I can pull a 9,600 lb fifth wheel trailer easier and with better fuel mileage that any other truck in this class that I have owned. It is pure class and luxury, the diesel motor is quiet and it burns clean. It is no wonder that Popular Mechanics magazine just rated it over the Ford F250 and the Dodge 2500 with diesels in every area. Performance, ride, fuel milage, handling and safety. And I would definely add looks to that list of kudos. Five stars for this stylish workhorse with an attitude.
Smooth, powerful & solid
I traded in my Toyota Tacoma for this vehicle, definitely with bittersweet feelings. However the 2500HD has been quick to please so far. First off, GM did an amazing job with the quality of this truck. The interior is worlds ahead of even Toyota's Tundra, and that's coming from a loyal five-year Yota owner. The 2500's doors close easily, with an assuring sound... the panels are all tight... it just looks GOOD too. Performance with the gas 6.0L V8 is very good, although I've been breaking it in and not flooring it. There is a nice exhaust gurgle too. Overall, you'd never know this is a HD 3/4 ton pickup; it rides like a SUV. Gas mileage during the first tank: 15 MPG in a 60/40 mix of city/hwy.
