Polaris Slingshot gets a little more comfy with Midnight Cherry edition

Caterhams, Ariel Atoms, and KTM X-Bows get the lion's share of attention regarding pared-down sports cars, but Polaris is still plugging along with its incredibly fun three-wheeled Slingshot, and it just got a special edition. It's called the SL LE Midnight Cherry, and its two big selling points are a custom paint job and a bit more comfort.

The custom livery consists of a dark cherry metallic paint and white vinyl graphics. The gas cap, swing arm, and control arms are also painted white. Inside, comfort is improved by adding an extra 5/8 of an inch of foam padding compared with a normal Slingshot. The seats are covered in black, diamond-pleated upholstery with cherry-colored stitching.

The Midnight Cherry Slingshot comes with all of the features of the SL trim level. Among them are a windshield, back-up camera, Rockford Fosgate sound system, and Bluetooth integration. And as with all Slingshots, the Midnight Cherry edition comes with a 173-horsepower 2.4-liter four-cylinder from GM, which sends power through a 5-speed manual to the single rear wheel. To get this special-edition machine, you'll shell out $26,999 before destination costs, which is an extra $1,500 compared to a basic SL model.
