A Wisconsin police officer saved the day when, instead of a ticket, he imparted an important life lesson on a speeding college student.
According to WBAY, officer Martin Folczyk of the Menomonie Police Department stopped a speeding silver BMW near the University of Wisconsin-Stout campus. At the wheel of the car was an frantic, unnamed UW-Stout student with the look of a man late to his own wedding. The student, apparently not realizing he'd been pulled over, got out of the car and slung his backpack over his shoulder while Officer Folczyk approached him. When asked why he was in such a hurry, the student told Officer Folczyk that he was late for giving a class presentation and he needed to find a friend to help him tie a necktie.
Officer Folczyk took pity on the young man and asked him for his necktie along with his license and registration. While the student returned to the car for his papers, Officer Folczyk tied the tie around his own neck and presented it to the young man when he returned. After a bit of fiddling, they got the knot adjusted properly and the student had a decently tied necktie. Officer Folczyk let the student off with a warning, and they both went on with their daily business with no further incident.There's no word on the outcome of the class presentation, but at least the young man probably looked good doing it.
