Though the
Ford Bronco and its
Ranger pickup sibling
will be built in Michigan, development of the two vehicles is reportedly happening far, far away.
According to Motoring,
Ford's Asia-Pacific Product Development Center in
Australia is developing the new SUV along with updated versions of the Ranger truck and Everest SUV. The publication cites anonymous sources as well as spied test mules as evidence of this.
It all makes sense, too. Motoring mentions that the same Ford branch was responsible for the T6 chassis that underpins the current Ranger and Everest. It would be natural for the same division to work on updating the chassis for newer versions and the US-spec vehicles. Motoring does add that the Bronco will have unique styling compared with the Ranger and Everest, and the publication believes the final design will be decided by Ford's American office. In the unlikely case Ford designers are looking for design inspiration, we suggest the above renderings from Bronco6g.com.
