This man daily drives a mid-engined 1980 Renault 5 Turbo 2

A gentleman from Western France is daily driving one of the most bonkers concoctions that this industry has come up with over the years. His name is Christophe Guerin, and he was born in the village of Le Mans. His ride of choice is a Renault 5 – the hatchback that was, for a time, sold in the United States as Le Car.

This isn't just any R5 – this is a Turbo. Which tells you that not only does it have a forced-induction engine, but that said engine is located at the back of the car, much like the Clio V6 that would follow, or so many concepts from the likes of Volkswagen, Ford, Nissan, and Toyota.

That layout, we can imagine, can make the R5 Turbo a bit of a handful to drive, but Monsieur Guerin seems undeterred – which could have a little bit to do with the special place where he grew up. Enjoy the video.
