Is Chevy previewing Colorado's facelift with Thai concept truck?

The Chevrolet Colorado has only been on sale in the US market for a couple years, but it's spent a lot more time on the international stage. With that in mind, Chevy is prepping a facelift-previewing concept where the second-gen pickup got its start – Thailand.

Yes, the Bangkok Motor Show, which is a thing, will feature a rough-and-tumble concept with what certainly looks to be a tweaked fascia, based on the single teaser image. We can see a thin strip of LED running lights that mostly fit the shape of the current truck's headlights. Such a move would bring visual parity to the Colorado and the full-size Silverado, which got its own facelift for model-year 2016.

But what makes us so confident that what's shown in Bangkok will arrive in the US? As we said, the second-generation Colorado first debuted in the Thai market, before coming to America. This precedence gives us hope that whatever change is being shown in Bangkok will come to America to freshen up Chevy's entry level truck.

As for the concept itself, it's quite clear that whatever Chevy has up its sleeve, it's designed for Thailand's more rural paths, rather than the paved roads of Bangkok. We can see a new roof rack, a snorkel, a much more powerful hood, and hugely flared wheel arches. And if we kick the exposure way up in Photoshop, we can get a good look at the super knobbly off-road tires. Judging by the rubber, we're betting this concept has been lifted a couple inches, too.

You can check out the teaser above, and then head back here when unnamed Colorado concept debuts next week.
