DeLorean Motor Company Announces Electric DMC-12

If you're going to build an EV, why not do it with some style? The Texas-based DeLorean Motor Company that revived the perennial cult favorite DMC-12 announced that it will be producing an all-electric version of the car for 2013. That's right, the car that got Marty McFly Back to the Future is going green. DMC is working with electric car startup Epic EV (recently featured on TRANSLOGIC) on the vehicle, which early reports say will offer 260-hp, with a maximum speed of 125 miles per hour. The car is estimated to cost $90,000-$100,000. Though the electric drivetrain is certainly a departure for the car, purists need not fret too much, as the signature gullwing doors and overall exterior design should remain unchanged.

Though the details are still shaky, the EV DeLorean is slated to begin production sometime in 2013. If only there was a way to alter time so that 2013 got here sooner...
