You, too, can now (probably) drive the all-electric Smart ED

Looking for something to do this weekend? Get out there and drive an electric car.

Not only is the all-electric Smart ED program continuing as planned in the U.S. (after the Penske/Daimler fall-out which saw Daimler take control of the brand here), but the first batch of 2011 Smart Fortwo Electric Drive vehicles has made it to Smart dealerships across America. Those dealers recently sent out an email invitation to interested parties to come and take a test drive and "be one of the first to get behind the wheel of the next generation of smart."

The Smart ED isn't available everywhere in the U.S., but if you're interested in checking out the little battery-powered roller skate for yourself, click here and then on "Dealer Maps" to locate an electric drive dealer nearby and enjoy the drive. We sure did, considering. Thanks to Edward for the tip!
