Which cities love hybrids the most? The 210 greenest in the U.S., of course

Our love for green vehicles is something we're quite proud of. So much so, that it saddens us to learn that many of the cities which we call home have failed to place high on this year's list of the Top 210 Greenest cities in America. C'mon, Detroit comes in at 140 – what gives?

This year's list was compiled by the folks at Kicking Tires. They gleaned data from a nationwide audience for their third annual greenest cities list. Using info from the Cars.com site, each city receives a ranking based on how many potential buyers in that area searched for hybrid cars, trucks or SUVs while looking for new vehicles within the last year.

The list should really be called the top 210 cities that show interest in hybrid vehicles, but it didn't sound quite as powerful as the greenest cities in the land. Not surprisingly, many cities that topped the list lie near the Pacific Ocean, from southern California on up to the northern reaches of Washington state. Many southern cities fell down to the bottom of the ranks and several college towns appeared high up on the list. Surprised? Neither are we.
