VIDEO: Robert Llewellyn launching Gearless, a new EV-centric series

Gearless mini-episodes – Click above to watch video after the jump

Fans of Robert Llewellyn's current web-based Carpool series, as well as fans of electric vehicles (EVs) in general, may be interested to know that the actor/presenter has a new program starting up that is not only centered around battery-powered transport but also take place,at least to some extent, inside of one. The driver-for-a-year of a Mitsubishi i MiEV (where do we sign up?), Llewellyn is sharing his "ownership" experience with the world and hopes to satisfy his curiosity and ours by finding out things like how far it will go, how much CO2 it really produces, how steep a hill it can climb and more. The show's name is Gearless.

Besides the constant updates on the i MiEV, there will also be some extracurricular EV adventures afield including an ambitious wind-powered run from John O' Groats to Land's End in an electric of unspecified heritage (the Nemesis?). From there, the Brit comes across the pond to represent in the Progressive Automotive X-Prize by being a driver of an entry from his homeland. In June, there's a visit to the EMXGP to experience a race on the streets of Paris and, if they make it that far, he will meet up with the Racing Green Endurance team for a spot of organic salad in California. Although it will likely get its own website, the show is still in an experimental stage but there are already four mini-episodes which you can find conveniently posted after the break.
