Australian industry and government moving forward on hybrids, biofuels

The Australian government (still my favorite national government green car advocates for their "Drive Less" campaign) is pushing to get Australian carmakers to build some hybrid cars. The parliamentary secretary to the Environment Minister, Greg Hunt, said last week that Australia needs to catch up to the rest of the world in hybrid technology to stay competitive and to help the environment.
Also in Australia last week, the Australian Institute of Energy tried to promote alternative fuel adoption in the national transport fuel sector. The institute held a forum in Adelaide to discuss biofuels and possible directions for the industry. For Institute chairman Graeme Bethune, the drive to biofuels is driven by concerns over Peak Oil.
