Jaguar getting version of Freelander AWD system for SUV

We guess Ford couldn't keep the "Land Rover builds trucks and Jaguar builds cars" mantra too long while Jag's sales slump. The Jaguar plant that builds the current X-Type is slated to start building the next Freelander, which opens up an easy way to base a Jaguar SUV off the mechanicals. The "soft-roader" would likely be available for 2009. Land Rover said that work is going forward on the coupe-like Range Stormer high-performance vehicle crossing the line in the opposite direction. Never say never.
