The Jaguar plant that builds the current X-Type is slated to start building the next Freelander, which opens up an easy way to base a Jaguar SUV off the mechanicals. The "soft-roader" would likely be available for 2009. Land Rover said that work is going forward on the coupe-like Range Stormer high-performance vehicle crossing the line in the opposite direction.
