It might sound weird that the government is behind Wi-Fi technology on the freeway. The images of commuters with their Blackberry's out is scary indeed. But the FCC and DOT are looking at the technology in broader strokes. The technology could transform the way we drive and eventually it could allow for smart traffic lights that can sense backups, and automatic toll collection. One analyst says there will be "a massive infrastructure installation in the U.S. later this decade." Watch out.
