In some parts of the world, it's normal to take along saints or other holy images for a Procession to ask for rain, a good crop or other benefit. A similar idea caught the minds of people at Detroit's Greater Grace Church, where the pastor made a symbolic move on SUVday Sunday to pray for the future of the car industry. The objects of prayer? Three hybrid SUVs: a Ford Escape, Chevy Tahoe, and Chrysler Aspen. The holy trinity joined the Rev. Charles Ellis on the altar while many employees from th
What's more appropriate to talk about on Thanksgiving Day than turkeys? Americans are set to consume a few hundred tons of the gobblers today, tomorrow and likely well into the next month as leftovers are slowly taken out of the fridge until they just can't be tolerated any longer. And that's not the only turkey that's likely to outlive its welcome. Consumer Reports has gathered up a quick list of automotive turkeys - cars, options or automaker decisions that leave us questioning their sanity. A
Chrysler has announced this morning that it's moving up the closing of its Newark, DE assembly plant. The closure was originally announced in February 2007 and was planned to happen later in 2009. At the time, those SUVs were still more than six months away from production. This year, Chrysler is getting ready to launch their own full-size hybrid SUVs and they may be awarding one of the early production Aspen Hybrids to a women golfer at the Ginn Tribute LPGA tournament this weekend. If any of the 144 golfers, including Annika Sorenstarn, shoot
Considering that the Aspen is nothing more than a rebadged and gussied up Dodge Durango, it should come as no surprise that today Chrysler has announced a hybrid version of its ute to accompany the Dodge Durango Hybrid on the market in 2008. Both the Durango and the Aspen will feature a Two-Mode hybrid system – the one developed jointly with General Motors and BMW – paired with a 5.7L V8 HEMI engine featuring cylinder deactivation. Overall fuel economy should increase by 25%, while C
