2013 SL-Class Overview

The Mercedes-Benz SL-Class two-seat roadster enters its sixth generation in 2013, with 60 years of sports-car heritage re-imagined in a modern, technology-laden luxury automobile.For 2013, the SL-Class is comprised of three models, the SL550, the SL63 AMG and the SL65 AMG. The SL550 is powered by a 429-hp 4.6-liter twin-turbo V8 engine mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission with steering wheel mounted shift paddles. The SL63 AMG boasts a hand-built 530-hp 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8, as well as a seven-speed MCT (multi-clutch technology) transmission. The SL65's larger 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12 generates an immense 621 horsepower, and is paired with a seven-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT PLUS automatic transmission. Additionally, all three engines feature a new innovative ECO stop-start system for enhanced fuel efficiency. Standard equipment includes a composite power retractable hardtop with a panorama glass roof, heated leather seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, Bluetooth wireless connectivity, a voice-activated hard drive-based navigation system with 10 gigabytes of internal media storage and a 6-disc CD/DVD changer, along with HD and satellite radio. Safety features include four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, an electronic stability program (ESP) with traction control, Bi-Xenon headlamps with Active Curve Illumination and Adaptive Highbeam Assist, active head restraints, an automatically deployable rollover bar, as well as eight airbags and the Mercedes mbrace2 system.The Mercedes-Benz SL-class is all new for 2013.
