Steve McQueen: The Man & Le Mans coming to a theater near some

If you enjoyed documentaries like Senna and Winning: The Racing Life of Paul Newman, we've got good news for you, because those films are about to get some company. The forthcoming latest addition to our DVD collection is called Steve McQueen: The Man & Le Mans. And as you might have guessed, it takes us behind the scenes with the legendary actor/racer during the production of one of his most famous films – and certainly one of our favorites of all time.

The documentary film is made from outtakes and un-screened footage captured during the making of the cult-classic racing epic, and is overlaid with audio of the man himself (as well as his son) describing the process and experience. For McQueen fans and racing fans alike, this latest making-of documentary – hitting the scene 44 years after the release of the 1971 original film Le Mans – will be a must-see.

The film was screened this year, appropriately enough, at the Cannes Film Festival in the South of France. It's set for limited theatrical release in LA and New York on November 13, but if you don't get a chance to catch it there and then, you'll be able to buy it on DVD come December 1 – just in time for the holiday gift-giving season. In the meantime, you can get a taste of things to come in this trailer clip.
