Ford is running the high-elevation numbers on its five-door, six-speed manual Fiesta ST in the mountains of Colorado. We're going to hope this means that all our finger-crossing has served its purpose, and the hot hatch is finally headed for U.S. showrooms. Remember, the five-door concept was teased at the Los Angeles Auto Show last year before the Euro-market three-door was unveiled in Geneva, but all Ford would say recently was no decision had been made on a version for us.

The Fiesta ST in Europe gets 177 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of twist from its 1.6-liter EcoBoost four. Just because it's testing on Loveland Pass doesn't mean it will go on sale in the States, but nevertheless, we're going to go the optimistic route and assume that the amount of smoke still swirling around the tuned Fiesta over the past year has got to lead to fire. That and this gallery of spy shots will get us by until the next smoke signals are raised, probably very soon.

Everytime I walk in a Ford dealership and ask about the ST, I'm either ignored until I actively hunt down a salesman (all of them in their 50s and 60s, thus not at all interested in helping a young punk like me), or until I stand there and stare at the receptionist long enough to make them reach for the can of hairspray (they usually get a salesman to talk to me instead). Even then, all I get are blank looks when the words out of my mouth are not 'Focus' or 'Mustang' or 'SUV'. "Ess Tee? What is that? Never hear of it. Hey Jim/John/Ray/Bubba!! This guy is looking for an Ess Tee." "Do you mean the STI? Sorry, that's a Subaru. We don't sell that import stuff here." *rage face*

Ha. I have experienced the same thing. I think it has more to do with most salesmen being just salesmen and not enthusiasts. Most couldn't care less about the car they sell and would sell toasters if they could make the same amount or more money.

Sounds like you need to go to different dealers.

Funny. Today at my ford dealership I learned that all but one thought "ECoBOOST" meant every car had twin turbos. The salesmen even thought the ST is twin turbo.. I feel your pain man. Ford is ******* this up big time, Big hype to a car that isn't that desirable.

Another blasted 4 door !? When is Ford going to wake up and offer us a hot looking 2 door rally styled car ? Until then Ford can keep all of their "family" looking grocery getters for themselves. No sale here.

I'd love to see more ST badges on the road. My Focus will be here in a week or two.

Come on Ford just make the 3dr model. If i always had +2 people driving with me i would of just got a Focus ST or a base Fiesta. The whole point is a lightweight FWD car, and after adding an extra ~300-400 pounds of passenger it kinda of defeats the performance. ~2400 pounds with ~180HP to the crank is a very competitive setup with a proper suspension and tires. If they release a 3 door Fiesta ST, look out Abarth/GTI/Cooper S hell even the Civic Si!

Kudos to Ford if they actually sell it here in the USA.

Considering GM might be developing a Sonic SS (or a more powerful Sonic RS), I'd say that Ford would be missing out if they kept the Fiesta ST from our shores. All I ask is a DCT in addition to a manual.
