Chrysler is kicking up its "Imported From Detroit" marketing campaign with a new logo featuring the Detroit Fist – a downtown monument to Joe Louis – surrounded by the Chrysler wings.
Chrysler is hawking $29 t-shirts, $48 hoodies, $55 zip-up sweaters and $20 beanies sporting the logo and the "Imported From Detroit" tagline, with proceeds being funneled to Detroit-area charities, including the Boys and Girls Clubs of Southeast Michigan, Habitat for Humanity Detroit and the Marshal Mathers Foundation. You can snatch up your own at www.collection.chrysler.com.

      mmmm, ok.

I still don't understand what "Imported from Detroit" is supposed to mean.

        +1

Is that supposed to be some kind of reverse psychology aimed at import buyers?
well if you live in Europe, middle east or asia you'll understand then.
Then you just don't get it, do you?

Hopefully the shirts are not made in China.
The old logo shirts were made in the USA. I would expect these are from that same company.

I still like it and am trying to find reasons not to...although I almost think hawking a bunch of t-shirts/hats/whatever is complete foolishness, I am liking the idea IF all of the $ goes to charity.

And while some 'may not get it', I'll tell you what - when the SoCal/LA exclusive areas, rich n trendy neighborhoods start filling up w/domestics and "buying American" becomes the 'in' thing to do (as it has beleive it or not), look out...Chrysler's ad has struck a chord and GM/Ford/Chrysler stand to make significant inroads again...

      Really?! $30 for a t-shirt?

I like the logo and all, but at that price? Ill pass.
Well you can get a Chinese knock off for about $10 I suppose, but then it would be "imported from currency manipulated Beijing". Plus none of the money would go to charity.

      Begs for an import tax.

"You can snatch up your own..."? Why would anyone want one? Besides, I agree that it looks too racist ('Black Power').

I just woke up from a coma so pardon me

but perhaps you could answer my question.

When did Canadians invade Michigan and took

      over the city of Detroit?

Get it or not get it, agree or not agree - - - they've way over played that commercial, in all its iterations. If that is all they have, they should delay the push until they can come up with something else. One lame commercial just does not make a movement. Thank God for digital recording and the FF button.
