Top Gear is here in the United States. No, not the Top Gear USA team of Tanner Foust, Adam Ferrara and Rutledge Wood but the blokes from the BBC. Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond have been spotted driving a trio of excellent exotics in the Blue Ridge section of North Carolina.

If you happen to live in the area, be on the lookout for a Ferrari 458 Italia, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG and a Porsche 911 GT3 RS. We imagine they'll be running three wide, engines roaring and cameras rolling.

UPDATE: Autoblog reader Jim spotted the Top Gear crew at VIR and snapped a few shots. We're guessing Hammond in the GT3 RS, Clarkson in the SLS and Captain Slow in the 458.

Awesome, can't wait to watch them driving these cars. It's going to be a great episode as usual!!!

Why don't you move in Italy in order to get closer to the so fabulous Alfa 2uetto

Autoblog writers have obviously never driven some of the rural roads in the mountains of NC. Try US 221 or 321
        • 4 Years Ago
Well, you could re-word the article to make it not read like you don't know why they are in NC. It's like you'd rather see them just rolling around on the ever-so-thrilling interstate. The way it's written makes it look like you don't know about the windy roads there, or why they even bothered to be in NC in the first place.

@Seabass: haha, your comment didn't make sense to me at first... but then I re-read the article.

That last line was added by an editor not me. My grandfather lives in North Carolina so I know the area is GREAT for driving roads.

        Oh well...

        why?

We didn't say anything about the roads, but in fact called the area beautiful.

I'm really quite tired of Top Gear posts. it's just a car review show right? like car and driver? so why does this site post so much info about the hosts, and the production, and the times it comes on, and the cars they review etc... seems in general overhyped.

It isn't just a car show! It's as closely related to a show like say Motorweek as Three's Company is related to Dallas!

Perhaps it's not your cup of tea ... however, it's huge success largely demontrates that it's quite a great show (about cars).

It does what other car shows don't, it makes motoring and cars interesting to the non-interested! I can get my wife to watch Top Gear but I guarantee that I can't get her to watch Motor Week or any of the shows on Speed!

That being said ... just skip over the posts and smile! I feel the same way about some other topics on AB.

Well there have been quite alot of TG posts lately mainly because of the Stig saga. I kind of agree with you, but as Top Gear fan... i kind of don't. :)
At least this post is getting much more replies than norm autoblog posts so there seems to be interest.

There are no good roads in NC. The cops keep the speed limit strictly enforced. You have better driving roads where you live.
Captain Slow is certainly in the Porsche because Hammond always picks the muscle car of the group (SLS) and James hates the new 458 because it's so much better then his 430. That leaves the Ferrari to Jeremy.

I hope that they sorted out their visas so they can be entertaining and not solely educational.
        Agreed.

Their bonneville trip was so dry in attempting to be non-entertaining, that James May had enough of a window to inadvertently make a few jokes.

Clarkson can't let that continue. :D

I hope so.... That's a fun road... Done it twice. Once on a bike and once in a car.

Total blast. The Cherohala skyway is awesome too. I can hear the jokes from Jeremy already. It's VERY slow up in them there mountains... lol

Wish I was around to see those cars! Not something you see every day! I would definitely say May is in the Ferrari as it was mentioned on Twitter the other day that he loves the 458. Hammond would be in the Beetle and Clarkson would be in the obnoxious Mercedes Supercar.
