What does Lewis Hamilton drive?
Newly-crowned Formula one world champion Lewis Hamilton may have to wait a little while longer to get his hands on that bright orange McLaren F1 LM, but what does he drive in the meantime? Gunning for the title all season in the Mercedes-powered McLaren MP4-23, he certainly isn't lacking for a fast ride on the weekends, and he'd surely have his pick of any Mercedes car in the German automaker's vast lineup. But while the Mercedes SLR McLaren might be a natural choice, Lewis chooses to drive the daily grind in a diesel sport-ute. Specifically, a Mercedes-Benz GL320 CDI. "At the track," explains Lewis, "I always drive on the limit, but on public roads I like to relax, kick back and cruise. The GL's perfect for that."

Wonder what Greenpeace will have to say about that.

@ Avinash
They will sure like it, as its a diesel, if you didn't recognize that yet.

why not the LS2LS7? 11:14AM (11/09/2008)
First of all, this is Greenpeace. They don't always follow rationality.
Second of all, the 23mpg (US highway) of the Mercedes CL320 CDi is below average for mpg in the US, let alone in Europe. And Greenpeace isn't even happy with where the average is.
This is far from a "green machine".

Didn't he say the exact same thing to Jezza on Top Gear like 2 years ago?

I *think* that's the right link. I don't have time to sit through the whole thing.

I remember when on Top Gear, Clarckson asked Hamilton why he drives the GS when he should be driving SLR. Hamilton said that he is pimpin' in it!

GL with DUBBBs
I think when the driving lobe of the brain overdevelops, it hinders the performance of the other parts.
if he really wanted an SUV, there's the ML63 and the G55 - both of which are actually good cars unlike the GL.
he could also choose:
SL65 Black Series
SLR McLaren
CL65 amg
but hey, I'm no lewis hamilton, what do I know

The G55? You must be kidding me.
It's a funky vehicle, which is kind of fun. But unless you're going offroad it is not a good vehicle. It's a 30 year old design and it shows.

Who cares? He ought to be driving a Toyota. Hey, I think I just saw Timo Glock driving a Mercedes Roadside Assistance vehicle...

"It's unbelievable that you are still on that dumb sh*t."
Exactly my reaction when I hear people talk about Hamiltoff in general.
Also unbelievable - the fact that you fell for that obvious troll bait.

Remeber what Lewis's father drove for a short while until this - http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2077344/Lewis-Hamilton%27s-father-crashes-Porsche.html - happened?
For those who didn't pay attention, Hamilton Sr wrecked a rather expensive car.
