Transformers: Corvette concept, Bumblebee Z28 in the buff

So a couple of weeks ago we asked you to help us identify a mystery car on the set of Transformers 2. Quite a few of you guessed it was some sort of Corvette concept, or the C7 Corvette due in 2010. For those of you who guessed Corvette concept, you were right. The picture above is that concept, and according to speculation it is getting some paint work done in the house of Chip Foose. We don't know if these pics were taken before or after the car's closeup, but we hope it was afterward and that GM is getting ready to actually show us the car. Jalopnik's also got pics of Bumblebee getting paint work done in the same shop. It's a much yellower Bumblebee than the orange one seen on the TF2 set, and word is it could be a Z/28... or it could be a package you'd order from... Saleen? Click the link for the photos and gossip.

that's why it's a just a concept.
concepts are always dumbed-down by the time they hit producton.

even if it was dumbed down...whats wrong w/ a camaro w/ a hood scoop racing stripe, and front air damn/lip? i thought that both the mustang, and upcoming challenger HP models had both of these...are those rice too?

Not digging the odd thin headlights on top (if that's what those are), but the overall front shape is sexy as &*%$...

I was thinking the same thing. I like the way it looks, reminds me a bit of the 80's era corvette stingray (one of my favorites). And then I noticed the headlight placement and it just seems a little awkward. I'm not really sure where they could be relocated to though; heaven forbid we go back to the flip-up design.

i would rather have flip-ups that those.

Looks like a ricer got a hold of a C3 vette to me.

Wow, that is one menacing corvette. Paint it black and you have the perfect Batmobile.
Althought I do prefer side-swept headlight over swept-back ones, I think I could tolerate this. This thing looks just too mean for me to not like it.

Hint hint. "The Fallen" is a bad guy from the original transformers series. He is supposedly a tank or space ship or something.

Is 'yellower' a word? Lol.
GM design is a roll.

And Chip Foose once again ruins a classic piece of American Iron.

the Vette does look "mean"
but i think its a highly conceptual-conept. its just too radical and too much of a departure.

it's not that far departed, it reminds me of the early 70s models. i think it's great! not so sure about the headlights, but other than that, i'm sold.
Eddy Alvarez 2:14PM (6/22/2008)
oh, for sure very C3-ish

I for hope that is the styling because the styling of the Corvette is just to conservative...they played it safe. The next styling of the Corvette needs to take it to the next level, like they did from the C2 to the C3, and depart form the Conservative era of David Hill

Awww yeah, that thing rocks. It looks like it'll eat your young.
If they can bring that to market as-is it is game-F'n-on.
I haven't really been a fan of 'vettes since the old stingrays. While the recent generations $/performance ratio has been amazing, I just haven't been intrigued by the looks. This changes that in a big way!

The next Corvette should be a modern interpretation of a '63. Or at least bring in some other Stingray design elements. I've hated Corvettes since '83. I just don't like the conservative design on what should be the premier American car.
The shape of the concept looks good but the details are all wrong, like the headlights.
I doubt the Z/28 will end up looking like that. The lights are decals on Bumblebee and everything looks too plastic in real life. In the movies it looks good though.

Interesting take on the vette design, but we all need to keep in mind that this is a movie prop!
