Spy Shots: BMW E93 M3 hard-top convertible
We knew it was only a matter of time before BMW would take the can opener to its 400 HP uber-coupe, and these newest spy shots prove that development is well underway. While little has changed from the standard 3-series cabrio, the fender flares, cut-up front fascia and quad exhaust are clearly M-specific kit, despite the lack of visible vents in the hood and on the front quarter panels. We somehow doubt that a carbon fiber folding roof mechanism will be part of the package, but we'd like to be pleasantly surprised when the M3 convertible makes its debut in Geneva next year.

Meh, I'm already bored with the new M3, and I think a lot of other people are as well. Regardless of how it drives, it gives off the impression that it's moved upmarket into GT territory. Much fewer of these cars will be used on the track than the e46 M3's, and that's depressing.
Crossing fingers for a tii to renew my faith in BMW.

i still don't understand the logic behind putting a hard-top convertible on the M3. Just do a rag-top. It saves so much weight its not even funny. This is supposed to be a performance car. And the ragtop looks better when closed than a hard-top convertible...

Actually, this is supposed to be a "I'm-a-douche-from-Long-Island-living-off-my-trust-fund-with-no-sense-of-self-worth-so-I-bought-the-convertible-cuz-it-costs-more-and-people-can-see-my-bling-allowing-me-to-trick-myself-into-thinking-I-have-value-to-society" car, not a "performance" car, so the weights not much of an issue. *grind's axe yet some more...*

sorry Testa as much as I would like the M3 to be a pure performance vehicle it just isn't meant to be that way. Its a practical GT. You have your luxury and you have your sport. Not everything will be purely performance driven. Its been that way with my already kinda bloated E46 and it just keeps packing on the pounds! Thats why, hopefully, BMW will bring the Tii over here and we can have a Cayman BMW battle.

OK! I am still interested. If they ad AWD to it it would be a more practical replacement for my current 4-seasons dream car: Carrera 4S Convertible.

e30 - Pure race car
e46 - Race car in a tuxedo
e36 - underpowered race car in a tuxedo
e90/92/93 - AMG...
This is the way most reviews are rating the new M3.
Sure a little faster in a straight line, but over all not as good as the other M'3 as it is less raw feeling more AMG like.

the roof probably will be carbon fiber. The roof on the Coupe is... why not the convertible?

The return of the poseur-mobile. The old M3 convertible was exclusively for trophy wives and poseur-dudes and total junk on the track. LOL What was it like a 3800lbs car (from 3400lbs)? The M is for "massively overweight" I guess. LOL.
