VIDEO: Porsche Panamera goes north to Sweden
If you want to get spy shots of vehicles that will soon be showing up in European dealerships, the place to be every year from December to March is the area near the Arctic Circle in Sweden. One person of apparently hardy stock captured a pair of Porsche Panamera prototypes heading out to a frozen lake for some more testing. We've all seen stills of the Panamera on the Nordschliefe, but now you can see (and hear) the car in full motion video.

That ain't a freakin' porsche. Even an average joe on the street (not an autoblog reader) will able to tell a Porsche apart from every other make. This car doesn't have any of that. It looks like just another euro 4-door.

It's amazinig how stupid most people are. First they bash the car at how ugly it is and then when the car is out, they change their minds!
This car looks cool. Only stupid people don't appreciate it. Probably because you can't afford it.

This car will re-invent the 4 door sportscar,in a way the Mercedes-Benz AMG E class and the BMW M5 haven't yet.It will be in a class by itself.

I agree, you guys are retarded. Porsche is expanding their customer base by making SUV's and now a four door that live up to the expectations that go with their name: obnoxious amounts of speed, high performance, nice interiors and good looks. This is a smart business decision by them and I think it will turn out to be a great car.
P.S. I love how the spy camera crew gets cut off by a S500 at the end of that shot!

This car is going to looks good once everything is done. The only problem is the word Porsche used to be something special referring to an awesome sports car. Now days it could be a sedan or even an SUV, what is next a Porsche truck?

While the paneling that is supposed to disguise the car is fugly, I can't wait to finally see Porsche's first honest attempt at a four-door.
It's gonna be awesome, no doubt.

Dear God that makes me wince. Twice.
Handle-less doors. Please.
And the PBR 12-pack box on its side spoiler needs to be nixed prontito.
I fear for Porsche this day, my friends. FEAR!

This car could be something special. At least in the way it looks. But until they smooth out that C-Pillar and make the back end graceful it's going to exist in the same category as the Cayenne: A bastardization of the icon.
The only reason I don't mention the spoiler is I know it's there for camo and won't make it to production.

Porsche pretty much mastered the 911, its good to see them expand their lineup... smart business move, especially since the Rapide is set to come out soon :)
PS... I believe that was an S550 not a 500... the minibach.

I keep telling myself this can't be the real car. The debut is still a ways off, and there is no camo....they have made no attempt to disguise the car. I want to believe that what we are seeing IS the disguise, but who knows.
With several truly beautiful high-end performance sedans available now, this thing is gonna have to get an extreme makeover.

Ok, maybe I should not complain because I can forgive the new WRX for being sinfuly ugly... But this ain't a Subaru, and tt's Subaru Ugly, without the great bargin value a Subaru has to offer.
Is Porsche going to be able to sell enough of these limo treatment 911's to justify this? Its easy enough to understand how come Porsche can keep offer the Porsche SUV. Because the Cayenne, shares parts with the VW Touareg, and Audi Q7, if one styal does not do well, the other two might still be able to cover the losses on that unit. GM does the same thing with Hummer H2, Chevy Tahoes, And GMC Yukons. (And thats just some of there TH900 related products...)
But this is diffrent. Its the first streached 911 made to be sold as sedan. I guess they could cover any looses if does not do well by just making more normal 911s, (if this is to be built on the same assemblie line,) and the losses will be small... (since looks to be using mostly 911 parts...)
But its preportionaly ugly...

Ok guys, settle down.
This is a prototype with heavy camouflage. Just because it's painted the same colour as the reast of the car, doesn't mean it's not there. Just check the older Panamera pictures from the Nürburgring. The whole back of the car is hidden under tacked on camouflage.

The four door Porsche thing doesn't bother me so much, it's just THAT one that bothers me. It just looks kind of awkward I guess.

The Panamera will have to compete with the likes of the Maserati Quattroporte and the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti - and it will have to look the part. I doubt it will ever achieve high sales volume, though, the market for four-seater supercars is quite small.

Seems like it's front-engine.if that's the case, this could eventually be made into many different styles.2 door 2 plus 2 .2 door mercedes SL competitor etc.
