Lutz says Saab "close to making money"

At a press event before the Geneva Motor Show, GM's product development czar, Bob Lutz, said Saab is doing so well that GM's newest board member, Tracinda's Jerry York, has recanted his suggestion that GM get rid of the brand.

In an event associated with the Detroit Auto Show in January, York laid out his recommendations for restructuring GM, including dumping the Saab and Hummer brands. But now Lutz says York is convinced the brands are helping GM. Lutz is quoted by Reuters as saying today, "Saab has really turned the corner. It is close to making money as a brand."
