Bush soon to appoint new NHTSA chief

To replace the outgoing boss of auto safety Jeffery Rudge, the Bush administration has announced that it will appoint Nicole Nason (pictured at right) as the new administrator of the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration. She'll be coming into the NHTSA at a rather busy time, as the agency works on new fuel economy rules and strengthening rollover requirements.

Despite the fact that Joan Claybrook from Public Citizen has already been vocal in her opposition to Nason, I doubt that we can expect to see any fireworks during the confirmation process.
