2022 Jaguar E-PACE
The Jaguar E-Pace is the smaller of two Jaguar crossovers, more tidy than the F-Pace. It offers a sexy shape, fabulous front seats in a modern interior with a huge touchscreen, sublime all-wheel-drive handling, and a vocal 2.0-liter turbo-4. Because it got a thorough update last year, for 2022 there are few changes. The turbo-4 engine makes 246 hp, with a 296-hp version that can do 0-60 mph in 6.6 seconds. Its slick 9-speed automatic transmission works great under full throttle, but it's less decisive at low speeds. There's a torque-vectoring rear end that adds grip and precision during cornering.
The E-Pace seats four adults comfortably with 22.4 cubic feet for their cargo. It's 173 inches long with a 105.6-inch wheelbase.
It's EPA-rated at 21 mpg city, 26 highway, 23 combined, on premium gas. It hasn't been crash-tested yet, but standard safety equipment in the base model includes automatic emergency braking and active lane control. Available on upper models are a head-up display, a surround-view camera system, parking sensors, and blind-spot monitors. Adaptive cruise control is optional.
