Chevrolet's rear-wheel drive Express 3500 passenger and cargo vans provide a rugged and durable means of transporting several passengers or a large payload of cargo. There are three available engines for the Express 3500 lineup. A 4.8-liter V8, a Vortec 6.0-liter V8, and a Duramax Diesel 6.6-liter V8. All of the engines are teamed with a four-speed automatic transmission. The Express 3500 passenger and cargo vans are available with a 135-inch or a 155-inch wheelbase. The passenger vans have an LS and an LT trim, they come with standard electronic traction and stability control, can accommodate up to 15 passengers, and offer several, convenient options. The cargo vans have a Work Van trim which is an excellent base for a multi-purpose utility vehicle that can be equipped to suit your comfort needs, or modified for your workplace requirements. For 2009, the Chevrolet Express 3500 passenger and cargo vans are a carryover.

ABS brakes automatically sense when a tire has stopped rotating under extreme braking, and will modulate the brake pressure to allow the tire to rotate. This increases the vehicles ability to turn while braking.
Stability control automatically senses when the vehicles handling limits have been exceeded and reduces engine power and/or applies select brakes to help prevent the driver from losing control of the vehicle.
Front-impact airbags for the driver and passenger (cancellable passenger) have been designed to protect the head during a frontal crash.
Overhead airbags are used to protect the occupant's heads in the event of a side collision or rollover.
The vehicle is equipped with an ignition disable device that will prevent the engine from starting if the correct original manufacturer key is not used.

RECALL DATE: 2014-11-05
Cummings Mobility Conversion & Supply (Cummings) is recalling certain model year 2006-2014 Ford E-150, E-250, E-350, Chevrolet Express, 2006-2008 Dodge Sprinter, and 2009-2014 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, and 2013 Ford Transit Connect vehicles manufactured January 1, 2006, to October 8, 2014, equipped with certain model S2005, S2010, S5005, S5010, S5505, and S5510 wheelchair lifts manufactured by Ricon Corporation after January 1, 2006. The platform side plate of the affected wheelchair lifts may crack.
If the platform side plates crack, the lift platform can separate from the lift and come to rest against the vehicle's lift door. When the doors are opened, the platform may fall out, increasing the risk of injury to the lift operator.
Cummings will notify owners to take buses to a Ricon dealer or service center who will install supplemental platform support bumpers. Any platform that has already started cracking will be replaced, free of charge. The recall began January 13, 2015. Owners may contact Cumming's customer service at 1-800-639-5438 or Ricon customer service at 1-800-322-2884. Cumming's number for this recall is 14E-041.
