America's stunt-master-in-chief Travis Pastrana broke his back and a hip Saturday in a roof jump exhibition gone slightly wrong. TMZ originally reported that Pastrana was hospitalized in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, with a broken hip after base-jumping from the roof of a Hyatt. Pastrana took to Instagram Thursday to update his fans on his condition and let everybody know that he's on the road to recovery:

Julian Siegel of The Riverside Market captured Pastrana's ill-fated descent in the below Instagram video. To the untrained eye, there was no obvious sign of equipment failure in the clip. Pastrana confirmed in his Instagram post that his botched landing was merely the product of bad luck and human error. Pastrana was unable to line up the landing as he'd originally planned and ended up taking the approach a bit too steep.
"I had the opportunity to BASE jump a very easy set up from a tall building with a big landing," Pastrana posted. "Had the best in the business out here giving me the best advice but a series of unfortunate events led to me being in a bad place. Usually I shine when [expletive] hits the fan, but it was me that 'hit the fan' this time."

Pastrana's publicist confirmed to the tabloid that the driver is expected to make a full recovery. To Pastrana, this is yet another in a long list of stunt-related injuries. There's even a web page dedicated to tracking his cumulative career injuries. Seriously. According to that (highly unofficial, we're certain) source, he's now racked up 60 bone breaks to go with 30-some-odd documented concussions. NFL, eat your heart out. Pastrana was in Florida filming stunts for Gymkhana, including some with Hoonigan's new Subaru DL.
