Vin Diesel pays tribute to Paul Walker following Fate of the Furious filming

Walker died in November 2013.

The Fate of the Furious is officially in post-production, and as he's done repeatedly over the years, Vin Diesel took a minute to pay tribute to his late co-star Paul Walker.

In an Instagram post, Diesel said Walker's memory gave him "strength... purpose and resolve," during "the challenging task of filming" and along the "arduous road to production." The eighth installment in the blockbuster franchise marks the first where Walker is absent. After the actor died in a fiery car crash in November 2013, producers used CGI and Walker's brothers to help finish Furious 7 and retire the Brian O'Conner character.

"I promised you we would make something you would be proud of and I pray that we have," Diesel wrote, alongside a picture of the two actors at the 2002 MTV Movie Awards after winning the Best On-Screen Team trophy.

The Fate of the Furious hits theaters on April 14, 2017.
