Cool off with Forza Horizon's 3's wintry Blizzard Mountain expansion

Ice, snow, and rally cars. We like.

Turn 10 Studios has announced the first big expansion for Forza Horizon 3, and if you liked the Storm Island expansion from the open-world series' second installment, you'll probably love Blizzard Mountain. Hitting Xbox One consoles on December 13th, the expansion brings a raft of enhancements to FH3, from new events, challenges, and cars to a new barn find. But those exciting additions play second fiddle to a realm the Forza series has never explored – snow and ice. Oh yes, this will be fun.

Turn 10 hinted at the news earlier this month, when it announced the Alpinestars car pack. But now, we have all the details about the wintry weather descending on the Australian Horizon Festival. This "alpine playground," as Turn 10's official release calls it, will introduce three new race types – hill climbs, descents, and blizzards – along with a bunch of snow-ready cars.

Ken Block's Ford Focus RS RX from Gymkhana 9 and the diesel-powered Nissan Titan Warrior Concept headline the roster, but there's much more. Lancia's legendary, rally-prepped Delta S4 from the monstrous Group B era and the beautiful Group 4-spec Stratos HF, along with the 2016 Subaru WRX STI VT15r represent the true rally cars. Gamers that prefer something more extreme can select from a pair of trophy trucks that cover a 51-year span – a 1965 Abatti Racing Ford F-100 or RJ Anderson's 2016 Polaris RZR-Rockstar Energy Pro 2 pickup.

Blizzard Mountain is available as a standalone purchase, but the only price Turn 10 listed was for the $34.99 Expansion Pass, which gives gamers access to not only Blizzard Mountain, but a second, unnamed expansion. W'd guess that Blizzard Mountain will cost $20 without the Expansion Pass, which matches the price Turn 10 listed when it announced Storm Island almost two years ago. If you purchased Forza Horizon 3 Ultimate Edition, you'll score a $10 discount.
