How a fast lap in Forza 6 could earn you a trip to Le Mans

A virtual lap in a Ford GT race car could land you prizes from Michelin, Xbox, the Petersen Museum, and Ford.

This weekend, racers from around the world will take to the Circuit de la Sarthe in Le Mans, France, for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. You will not be there, because like me, you've come to the crushing realization that you'll never be a world famous endurance racer. But Forza Motorsport 6 will let you do a pretty good impression of one, and if you happen to be fast enough, it might even score you a ticket to next year's 24-hour race.

Alongside Michelin, the racing game is launching a contest in conjunction with this weekend's race. From 9:00 a.m. June 18 to 9:00 a.m. June 19 – east coast time – gamers can join the 24 Hours Challenge. Just grab the new Ford GT racer, and set a lap around the Circuit de la Sarthe. According to Michelin, racers can earn prizes from Michelin, Xbox, the Petersen Automotive Museum, and Ford. There's no word on what the prizes will be, but one racer will score tickets to next year's Le Mans race.

Xbox, Michelin, Ford, and the Petersen will also host a Le Mans viewing party at the LA-area car museum on Saturday night. Part of that will include a three-hour endurance race, and Twitch will stream it live. Tickets for museum members are $15 and $25 for non-members.
