Michigan police officers help man with marriage proposal

A young Michigan man called local police last month to help him recreate his first date with the girl he hoped to make his wife.

Trevor Ross began dating his girlfriend Ashley Phifer in 2013. On their first date, Ross was pulled over by Royal Oak, Michigan, police for an improper turn, according to The Oakland Press. When his plans to propose in Chicago fell through, he called on his local police department to help set the mood.

Ross took Phifer to a local comedy club, also the scene of their first date, and coordinated with the Royal Oak Police Department so they would pull him over near the same place he was stopped two years earlier. He even borrowed his dad's truck, which he was driving the first time he was pulled over.

Officers asked Ross to step out of the truck and patted him down. Once they found the ring box, they pulled Phifer out of the car. She seemed nervous as the police ask her if she recognized Ross's 'contraband.' Phifer knew what was happening the moment she saw the ring box in the policemen's hands. She said yes and the pair plan on marrying next summer.
