A Pennsylvania father was charged with DUI after his uncontrolled SUV ran over and killed his daughter.
Twelve-year-old Shamera Harris' parents were picking her up from her first date at a house in Stanton Heights, Penn, CBS Pittsburgh reports. Her father, Richard Harris, had stepped out of the driver's seat to take pictures of the couple when the vehicle began to drift downhill. The out-of-control SUV dragged Shamera down a hill, then ran her over before hitting a tree across the street. Her mother and brother were inside when the SUV rolled away but were unable to stop it. Shamera died at the scene of the crash.
Police told CBS that Harris was visibly intoxicated and he was subsequently arrested for DUI. Police are investigating the crash to see if faulty brakes on the SUV were to blame.
