When you're paying by the mile, a few cents here and there can make a difference. So, cost-conscious Car2go drivers in many North American cities should be aware that the Daimler carsharing company has raised prices a little bit.
The new prices are 41 cents per minute (up from 38), $14.99 an hour (up from $13.99) and $84.99 a day (up from $72.99) and they will take effect in Austin, Portland, Seattle, San Diego, Washington, DC, Miami, Calgary, Toronto and Vancouver. From what we can tall, that leaves Minneapolis, Montreal, Denver and Columbus, OH operating under the old prices. All of the price increases are effective today, except for Toronto, which will change January 9, 2014. Local taxes, where required, are not included.
Car2go last raised prices in September 2012. In a letter to carsharers in San Diego, Car2go said that the new price increases are "minor" and were due to larger shared fleets, expanded parking options and better availability at popular events. These were pretty much also the reasons give last year, which implies we'll see another price increase roughly 15 months from now.
