A serious car accident horrified onlookers who had gathered to remember a teen girl killed on the same corner last week. Helen Liu, 14, died Saturday after she and two friends were hit by a truck while attempting to cross Blue Diamond Road on the west side of Las Vegas. The other two girls remain hospitalized.
Thursday night friends and family were holding a vigil in Liu's memory when another crash occurred just a few feet from mourners. The crash happened when a silver Toyota attempted to cross Blue Diamond Road. Three cars were involved in the crash and three people were injured, one critically. Many of the 200 people gathered burst into tears as they watched the wreck unfolded.
Nevada Highway Patrol told Fox 5 Las Vegas the girls were not using a crosswalk when the accident occurred. The driver of the truck that killed Liu will not face charges.
