Drive a Tesla Model S for just $20 an hour

Combine a really fast electric vehicle, a really high per-hour rental charge and visions of Steve McQueen or Ken Block of Gymkhana fame racing through the City by the Bay, and you have a really bad combination. Or a really good one.

San Francisco-based car-sharing startup Getaround recently added a member who's renting out his Tesla Model S EV for the tidy sum of $20 an hour. Getaround already had a Tesla Roadster in its inventory for $60 (!) an hour.

The availability of the Model S coincides with Getaround's launch of its iPhone app. The company has more than 10,000 car owners who make their vehicles available for rent, most of which are in the $7 to $9 an hour range, but most of those are not zero-emission Cars of the Year, are they?
