A "possible" steering defect in the new-generation Smart fortwo has prompted a recall of 1,650 of the minicars by DaimlerChrysler, the company announced today. Automotive News is reporting that each of the owners of these particular vehicles have been notified and that there have been no reports of accidents from the improperly installed part.
There have been three previous recalls for the Smart, including issues with seatbelts, sidelights and suspension, according to the British motoring group AA.
