Large-scale hydrogen fueling center coming to Coachella Valley

/
The first large-scale hydrogen service facility for third-party consumer use is coming to Coachella Valley, according to SunLine Transit Agency. SunLine currently has limited hydrogen fueling services at its facility in Thousand Palms, and the expansion announced last week will tap into the upcoming "Hydrogen Highway" of hydrogen stations along major California roads by 2010.
Both the chicken and the egg of hydrogen power are coming into being at the same time in California, with stations are going up as auto companies develop hydrogen-powered vehicles. SunLine General Manager C. Mikel Oglesby said the local hydrogen program would make it easier to refuel in the valley. SunLine currently has two hydrogen-powered buses that operate in Coachella Valley as public transit vehicles.
