UPDATE: It turns out that this car is the test version of the new CLK 63 AMG Black Series, and not a revision of the CLK DTM. The new car features AMG's 6.2-liter V8, putting out 530 hp, plus AMG's adjustable sport suspension and composite brakes. More info here. Mercedes has celebrated its crowd-pleasing DTM racecars with limited edition street models before, most recently the CLK DTM AMG Cabriolet, launched at last year's Frankfurt auto show. A limited edition model (only 100 were made), the last CLK DTM was described by Mercedes-Benz as capable of "fulminating performance," and the automaker had no trouble selling out the production run, making a next-generation CLK DTM pretty much inevitable.
Spy shots of the new CLK DTM at (where else?) the Nurburgring show a much more restrained interpretation of the racecar's Batmobile-style aerodynamics, with fewer sharp edges and overall a more integrated styling approach.
The last CLK DTM received its motivation from the 582 hp supercharged AMG V8, and spies expect the 6.3-liter V8 in the new version to put out between 580 and 600 hp.
