Larger hybrid sales plummet

U.S. sales of larger gas-electric hybrid vehicles have slowed significantly in recent months. While sales of the Toyota Prius and Honda Civic hybrid are strong, sales of larger hybrid models are slow across the board. Toyota managed to sell only 1,190 of their luxury Lexus RX400 hybrid SUV in June, less than half of the sales of the previous year. Toyota hoped to sell 35 to 30% hybrid versions of the RX400, but is currently selling only about 20% of the less gas-guzzling version. The news isn't much better for Honda, which saw sales of the Honda Accord hybrid drop by 59 percent in the first six months of this year. This has lead to Honda offering a $750 incentive to dealers on the Accord Hybrid.
