Government investigates Dodge Durango seat fires

What is it with DaimlerChrysler and seating surface conflagration? Coming hot on the heals of the Grand Cherokee's recent recall for heated-seat fires is an investigation of the 2001-2003 Dodge Durango for fires that have started under the driver's seat. In this case, though, it doesn't appear to be the fault of the seats themselves, as all 10 complaints relate to vehicles equipped with manual adjusters. Of significant concern is that a half-dozen of those fires have occurred when the ignition was off.

No official recall has yet been announced by NHTSA.
