Toyota target of possible three-state alliance

/
Last Friday at the Chattanooga Transportation Club U.S. Representative Zach Wamp of Tennessee suggested Alabama, Georgia and his own fine state of Tennessee work together to attract Toyota Motor Co. and other manufacturers to their area. The states would offer unspecified incentives to such companies in exchange for the companies establish plants and other facilities.
The Chattanooga area is reported to be on Toyota's list for a new U.S. facility. Tennessee was originally under consideration by Kia Motors which ultimately chose Georgia for its new plant. Despite the setback, Rep. Zach said he plans to approach TN governor Phil Bredesen later this month about such a tri-state alliance.
