Poll ranks Mercedes-Benz first with European consumers

A Harris Interactive poll of consumers in Great Britain, France, Germany, Italy and Spain ranked Mercedes first in terms of overall brand quality of 21 major automobile brands. German brands dominated the top five, with BMW second, Audi third, and Volkswagen fifth. Volvo, in fourth, was the only non-German brand to make the top five.
Fiat received the lowest quality rating, except in Italy, where Skoda ranked lowest. In the U.K., Rover ranked second worst, just ahead of Fiat.

We'd be willing to bet that you wouldn't guess this one… Car brands that consumers believe to embody a "sense of freedom" are headed by Alfa Romeo, followed closely by Far Eastern brands, including Honda, Mazda, Toyota and Hyundai. Alfa, sure, but Hyundai?
