Glickenhaus predicts Nurburgring lap record for SCG003

The Nürburgring Nordschleife lap record is poised to take a tumble in the near future thanks to the latest work from James Glickenhaus. He predicts the street version of the SCG003 might just be able to achieve the feat, and his company Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus has some compelling evidence to suggest it.

The SCG003 is sheer automotive lunacy to begin with. The world already has a fair number of carbon fiber, mid-engine supercars, but this one has a big difference. The rear frame can be swapped out to accommodate either a 3.5-liter, twin-turbo V6 from Honda for racing or reportedly a twin-turbo W12 for the drive home.

The race version of the car is already competing around the Nürburgring. In a recent race, it managed a six minute and 42 second lap around the famous track, faster than a Pagani Zonda R at 6:47 or a Radical SR8 LM at 6:48. Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus predicts in an Instagram post (embedded below) that the street version might even be able to hit a ludicrous 6:30.

That 6:42 needs an asterisk next to it, though, after Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus' clarification in a comment on its Facebook page. Before being black flagged for excessive noise during the race, the SCG003C managed an 8:12 lap around the combined Nürburgring Grand Prix course and Nordschleife. The company extrapolated that was about 6:42 around just the North Loop.

Thanks to unrestricted horsepower and no racing ballast slowing it down, the company predicts the road version to be even faster. However, Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus might want to act quickly because Radical is aiming to set a lower lap time, and Koenigsegg is too.
