Brabus isn't afraid to get under the hood of any Mercedes-Benz to add a pinch more power and sharpen up the exterior, from the tiniest Smart all the way up to the big G-Class SUV. So it should come as no surprise that one of its latest releases is a tweaked version of the Mercedes CLA45 AMG with some red accents and more muscle.

Getting right down to what we care about the most, Brabus' version of the CLA45 benefits from an additional 39 horsepower (29 kilowatts) and 37 pound-feet (50 Newton-meters) of torque to bring total power to 394 horses and 369 lb-ft of torque. Buyers can opt to leave the top speed limiter at 155 miles per hour or do the smart thing and raise it to 168. The company claims the changes are enough to bring the 0-60 mph time down to 4.2 seconds, compared to 4.4 seconds in stock form.

To back up the extra power, the tuner makes the CLA more aggressive with a red-accented body kit with new trim piece at the front, a roof-edge spoiler and rear lip spoiler. Multiple wheel designs are also available, but these red-banded, five double-spoke 19-inch wheels fit the look the best and match the added color on the grille and mirrors. The interior wears more crimson adornment, and Brabus allows buyers to cover nearly every surface with Alcantara if they wish.

Brabus has done a good job making the CLA45 AMG look more aggressive without taking things too far into gaudy world. Too bad the company's cars are somewhat rare on this side of the pond.

fuglier would be better suited in this case. In fact, I'm not even sure that there's a word in any language known to mankind to describe how visually unappealing this....this thing really is. I'd imagine an alien life form looking at this and thinking, 'what the hell is that?'. That's how misshapen and convoluted this thing is. It is beyond my comprehension, as an automotive enthusiast, an aspiring automotive designer and student of industrial design, how who where what and most importantly why this passed the phases of design process to eventually end up as a physical object. The fact that these disgusting things are selling is discouraging. One may argue that it may be subjective, but let's face it, ugly is ugly.

Why do people keep saying this is a good looking car? That is hideous. The wheels are too big for that horrible body. The AMG version is ugly too.

^^ wtf??? Anyway, the CLA is actually a pretty striking car in person. I will agree that the wheels and especially the taillights are too big for the body, but may fit the upcoming shooting brake version a bit better. Looks are subjective at the end of the day, and honestly I'm happy Merc is taking a chance with a car like this as opposed to someone like Audi, or now even BMW, where every single car looks the exact same.

The only reason is because is name Mercedes, the real company behind this is Nissan/Renault and is kind of a joke for a luxury car,the base hatch here got the same brakes and metal wheels of the Nissan Tilda and the way the sub frame, engine location, rear dead axel points is all old Renault,Nissan design (they just add multi link bars to the fear and create a body with less room for passengers,VW is doing way better job with Audi and sells can talk about it,both Audi and Mercedes now are build in Hungary and again,Mercedes is using the old Dacia(Renault /Nissan own company) to build all the A class, love the original mini MPV tall cars with one of the smallest diesel in Europe and make Audi add the A2 all aluminum to the market, this A class is just a lame concept and cheap useless car that is going to drain more and more the Mercedes brand,Why not a real Smart,Smart car? (Again, the next one is crear by Renault Nissan too)

At first I was excited about the CLA. Being in the target demo. Now, I just plan to get a stripped C-class. No hurry; I will wait.

Their design language seems redundant now.. multi-spoke wheels, rectangular exhausts, rear bumper vents.. dash a little bit of paint here and there...

I wonder how this compares in a drag race to the Evo X FQ400 with it's 400bhp turbo 2.0. 6 speed vs 7 speed both with AWD and similar in price. Let's see it autoblog.
