2013 Barrett-Jackson auction coverage to stretch across three Fox networks

The death of Speed and its rebirth as Fox Sports 1 left many a gearhead concerned. We were worried that we'd lose out on some of the best coverage Speed ever provided, whether it be Formula 1, inane, car-related game shows or Barrett-Jackson auctions. Our concerns seem to have been misplaced, though (but not on the game-show front - Pinks is apparently never coming back).

Fox won't just be covering the big Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas auction on Fox Sports 1. The coverage will bleed over to Fox Sports 2, and even the National Geographic Channel will get in on the action. All told, 22 hours of Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas, which runs from September 26 to September 28, will be spread across the Fox family.

Coverage kicks off on September 26 on FS2, from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM. Fox Sports 1 picks up the baton on September 27 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM, before switching over to FS2 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. The day will end back on FS1, extending from 7:00 to 11:00 PM. The last day of the auction will air from 3:00 to 11:00 PM on NatGeo.

Returning for coverage of the auction will be familiar faces like Bob Varsha, Matt Stone, Mike Joy and Steve Magnante. Justin Bell and Ralph Sheheen will also be joining the team for other auction features. Scroll down for the full press release from Fox and Barrett-Jackson, and keep in mind, the times listed there are Pacific - we converted them to Eastern time up top.

Barrett-Jackson's sixth annual Las Vegas auction, held September 26-28, 2013, will be the first to be broadcast live on three different FOX networks: FOX Sports 1 (FS1) – which is the re-launch of SPEED and one of the largest national 24-hour multi-sports networks ever offered; FOX Sports 2 (FS2), which is the re-branded FUEL TV, carrying a wide array of sports and events designed to appeal to a younger demographic; and the National Geographic Channel.

The groundbreaking mix of coverage means that Barrett-Jackson auction programming will be available to the largest audience in collector car auction history, further establishing the auction as a world-renowned lifestyle experience.

These new platforms will also attract a much more diverse audience to the collector car hobby, specifically with coverage on National Geographic, which features award winning programming that appeals to a broader demographic. "We have been fortunate to have had a great partnership with SPEED for the last 17 years and feel they have done a tremendous job of capturing our one-of-a-kind auction experience for viewers at home," said Craig Jackson, Chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson. "We're excited about the evolution of our relationship with FOX and look forward to this new chapter in our shared history. The Las Vegas auction will be available on live TV to more viewers than any other collector car auction in history. This is an incredible opportunity to expand our audience and attract new fans."

"We know our regular Barrett-Jackson audience will continue to follow us at our new homes," said Rick Miner, FOX Sports Executive Producer for Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Events. "In addition, showcasing Barrett-Jackson on National Geographic, and the 24-hour sports platforms of FOX Sports 1 and FOX Sports 2, is a unique opportunity to expose and expand the Barrett-Jackson brand to a new audience, many of whom may never have been exposed to the lines of a great collector car, or the intensity of auctioning off a rare piece of automotive history at no reserve - with all the energy and excitement that kind of Mano-a-Mano battle creates."
