Mercedes-Benz has released its first official teaser for its updated 2014 E-Class lineup. The video focuses primarily on the headlights of the E-Class that have a new shape and will offer (at least as an option) full LED lighting including the signals, stylish running lights and adaptive high and low beams. We also note that the the current E's odd four-pod headlight design is being replaced with a more conventional design that fits in with other Mercedes models.

Based on the numerous spy shots we've seen for all of the different bodystyles, the new E-Class will be getting a fresh face including a new hood, fascia and grille. The sedan will also get redesigned rear doors and quarter panels, but we have yet to see or hear of any changes being made to the interior.

Scroll down to watch the teaser video. We're not sure when the new E-Class range will bow, but our sources suggest it will not be the LA Show later this month.

Well, as a near future designer to be, I have to disagree with you because everyone has an opinion. E class is to me one of the most beautiful cars out there, along with other classes of vehicles - Kia Optima, Hyundai i40, Volkswagen Passat, Land Rover's, and the king - Rolls Royce.

Been living under a rock? I'd take an S5 over this thing all day long, and judging by the number of them I see on the streets, I am not alone. The Audi also had those headlights years ago....MB is trying to catch them!

Is this what they call an update, give it a different light bar or two? Are designers this lazzy?

Any visitor to autoblog should know that this is a cyclical minor refresh between bigger updates. Certain things that can be changed or updated at reasonable cost with minimal engineering / manufacturing ... so you're looking at bumpers, lights, a few options more or less etc. Then a few years after a minor refresh there'll be a more significant update. Something I believe every manufacturer does. They stretch model revisions out a little with some tweaks inbetween.

Thanks, I had no idea how this auto business works, I've only worked in it for 36 years.

Amazing how much better the 5-Series and Audi A6 look than the current E-Class...that thing needs a COMPLETE overhaul, inside and out.

Love the new DRL's, always makes for an exciting site to see certain DRL designs at night. The E-Class along with the CLS & C-Class are the only vehicles I like from Mercedes.
