Ford Crown Victoria in Hells Canyon – Click above to watch the video after the jump

Hells Canyon is said to be one of the more challenging off-roading destinations in Moab, Utah. The road-free zone is usually traversed by the likes of a Jeep Wrangler, Hummer H2 or perhaps a Toyota FJ Cruiser, but apparently a trail-capable SUV isn't needed for this lunar rock landscape. Heck, you don't even need four-wheel drive, as one Ford Crown Victoria owner seems to know all to well.

Hit the jump to watch in amazement as an old rear-drive Crown Vic takes on the undulations of Hells Canyon. Almost as impressive is the fact that the owner's dog walks beside the car the entire way, seemingly unconcerned by the rocky hills. The video's music is a bit obnoxious and its camera work shaky, but that doesn't take away from the enjoyment of this climbing Panther. Now we know why cops love the Crown Vic so much. Hat tip to Chad!

I wonder how many 4X4's drove by, scratched their heads in bewilderment, then drove off trying to figure out if it really was the desert heat making them go crazy.

I believe that's exactly how you get owned by an old man and his dog in a 16 year old RWD body on frame sedan with street tires.

I've never heard of "Hell's Canyon" in moab. There is a trail called "Hell's Revenge", however.

Not sure which is correct for this video. HC might exist.

But the baddest one of them all was actor James Garner's off-road Oldsmobile 442 racer which has been restored

You Can't Beat a Crown Vic....
Well you can. But Legendary nonetheless.

The BQE in Queens is just as bad as this road and there are 10,000 Crown Vics driving on it on a daily basis.

Somehow I have a feeling the Crown Vic driver won't be checking his followers on YouTube, but I have to give him a truckload, er make that a squad-car-full of respect for doing it anyway. Here's someone living life the way he wants. Oh, and it always helps to have your trusty dog spotting for you too.

Sheeeeit, throw the Panther on 28s, a 5.56 axle and disconnect the sway bars and it can conquer anything!
Nothing on 28"s ever conquered anything but self-restraint and sound reason. That goes double for all you Hummer drivers out there.

      The Crown Vic is awesome.

It really is a shame that Ford is killing them off instead of trying to modernize the powertrain and interior packaging somehow. It couldn't be THAT hard to do. It really is the ultimate highway cruiser.

      Trail Rated?
