Hyundai Veloster rally car teaser – click above for high-res image gallery

Throughout 2010, Hyundai teased us with shots of its unconventionally sporty new three-door. Thankfully, we finally got to see the 2012 Hyundai Veloster in its production skin at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show. Now comes a brand-new image to further tantalize us. Wearing Red Bull Racing colors, this rally-prepped Veloster has been captured mid-flight.

We don't have all of the details on this rally-ready Hyundai Veloster to devulge just yet, but we can confirm that we're dying to know more. Set your calendars for February 9, 2011 at 9:45am CST because that's when Hyundai will make good with more information. Also, be sure to tune in to our 2011 Chicago Auto Show coverage, because word on the tarmac, gravel and snow-covered street is that this mighty Veloster is hopping a plane to Chi-town... after it eventually touches down from this jump.

I hope it does better than the WRC Accent that Hyundai fielded many years back. It would be very interesting to see that thing on the stages.

66% of all statistics are made up on the spot.

Well this was certainly unexpected. Any chance this could mean that a sportier AWD 1.6T release may be in the Veloster's future?
Is the current Focus RS AWD? No. Are there plans to build a Fiesta RS with AWD? No. Does Citroën make an AWD C4? No. Does Citroën make an AWD DS3? No. Did Hyundai ever release an AWD version of the Accent WRC? No.

The days of homologation are over, have been over since the late 90s in motorsports.

If that is the case, there is not enough ways to express how much I'd want it. If it's the 2.0T + AWD in the Veloster, I'd need some cold water to cool myself off from the awesome overload.

        Ek.

The Sonata/Veloster inspired headlight does not work on the Genesis, as well as the new ugly taillamp. Thumbs down for uglifying handsome Genesis.

Great, now they ripped off the Infiniti M's taillight with the I30's rear end. At least they're stealing designs from one brand per side of the car, with a BMW 5-series roofline and mercedes blatantly on the front.

2011 Hyundai Genesis facelift also coming to Chicago autoshow with 2 new engines.
        V6 Lambda 2 and V8 5.0 with 8 speed transmission(similar to BMW).
        FULLY OPENED SPYSHOT.

So is he nor running in the 2011 Formula D season? Because that would conflict with RallyCross.

2012 Genesis has better fuel efficientcy on 5.0 than previous 4.6 and will be called 'Genesis Sports'.
5.0 gdi can lead upto 435 horsepower, torque 52kgf-m.
Current Toyota's 5.0 gdi engine has 422 horsepower with 51.5kgf-m.

      Unconfortunately?

I usually don't post spelling/grammar errors as I don't want to seem like an a-hole. But I don't know what that word is supposed to me.

I had to do a google check on it to make sure that I wasn't missing out on some type of internet-speak...

I'm not so sure that 99% couldn't care less. Hyundai has been getting a lot of coverage on Autoblog. The guys over at RMR have been telling me they've been prepping a sporty rally car. Nice to finally see it!
Or spending a lot of marketing dollars.....
They've been getting a lot of coverage because Hyundai has been hitting them out of the park with all these new cars.

I also like how the writer of this post says "but we can confirm that we're dying to know more", who is we? I am pretty sure 99% of the readers on this forum couldn't care less about this car.

Yes. Thank you Hyundai. The more manufacturers that give rally a shot, the better.
