2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302 Laguna Seca in Grabber Blue – Click above for high-res image gallery

We eagerly await the day someone hands us the keys to a 2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302 Laguna Seca. When that day arrives, we know the color of the will unfortunately not be Grabber Blue.

Regular production versions of the car will only be offered in either black or silver with red accents... and that's a darn shame – we can say with certainty that the Boss 302 here at Barrett-Jackson looks damn good in Grabber Blue. All proceeds of the sale above the car's MSRP will benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation to help find a cure for Type 1 diabetes.

If you're not playing Speed's Online Fantasy Bid Game, now would be a good time to start – this Mustang is the current vehicle online users are bidding on, and you could end up winning a prize, like an Apple iPad.

*Update: The winning bid was a staggering $450,000.

Hey Autoblog, why no coverage of other, better auctions say like Russo and Steele or RM?
      Neither of those auctions suck.

the price of the car isn't because of what the car is, its because of where the money went. they do these type of auctions all the time and they go way over the price its worth for the donation. sometimes, people match the price just to donate it to charity

I know nothing about cars...but I'm overwhelmed with gratitude for the incredible acts of generosity shown by this auction. My oldest daughter was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes over 5 years ago, at the age of 24 months.

I have a 2012 regular BOSS 302 in Kona Blue on order, delivery sometime if fall 2011. Ordered both options: Recaro seats/Torsen rear differential and accessory package (car cover and Boss floor mats). MSRP is $43,465, including destination and delivery charge.

Grab my wallet??? More like grab an armored car. Wish I had that kind of cash in my wallet for an awesome track toy like that.

I also noticed they had some awesome '69 Boss and Mach 1s for auction. Hard to choose between those classics and a soon to be classic like this.

Now every other Leguna Seca owner is going to think they have the next quarter million
      dollar collectible.

This is only a "one-off" color for 2012. Don't bet that Ford won't offer this color for 2013 or later. They were very coy about making sure that they stated "for 2012" in every mention of the cars supposed uniqueness.

Nope . . . not good. Doesn't even come close to the 1970 school-bus-yellow Boss 302 with black stripes original(!).

I watched the "Making Of The Boss 302" on Speed. During one of the talking head interview shots was a poster with all the Boss colors. In addition to the ones already shown there was a lime green with black stripes and a white with blue/black stripes.

I really don't know why they'd make another boss and not include the "school bus yellow" with black stripes.

Anyway, this car is going to be an absolute beast.
